PM Electric Drive Revolution Innovation in vehicle Enhancement [PM E-DRIVE]

Cabinet approved PM E-DRIVE with a financial outlay of Rs.10900 Crore Scheme period- october1, 2024 to March 31, 2026.

Aim: Accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles [EVs] by establishing charging infrastructure and building a robust EV manufacturing ecosystem in the Country.

PM E-DRIVE

e-2 Wheeler [e-2Ws]

        i.            Approximately 24.79 Lakh electric 2 wheelers will be incentivized, both private and Commercial Vehicles.

      ii.            Eligibility: Only e-2ws equipped with advanced Batteries.

    iii.            Benefit: Rs.5000 per kWh for e-2Ws registered in 2024-25 FY;

  Rs.2500 per kWh for e-2Ws registered in FY.2025-26.

 (Or)

  Incentives will be capped at 15% of ex-factory price whichever is low.

e-3 wheeler [e-3Ws]:

        i.            Approximately 3.2 lakh e-3Ws will be incentivized including e-rickshaw or L5 vehicles.
Eligibility: They should be equipped with advanced Batteries, Vehicles of Commercial.

      ii.            Benefits: Rs.5000 per kWh for e-3Ws registered in 2024-25.

                       Rs.2500 per kWh for e-3ws registered in FY 2005-26.

(Or)

    Incentives will be capped at 15% of ex-factory price whichever is lower.

e- Ambulance:

        i.            Rs. 500 Crore allocated for e-Ambulance.

      ii.            Eligibility criteria for e-Ambulances are under discussion.

e-Trucks:

        i.            Rs. 500 Crore was allocated for e-Trucks.

      ii.            Only those holding a Scrapping Certificate from Ministry of Road Transport and Highways approved Vehicle scrapping centers are eligible.

e-Buses:

        i.            A total of Rs. 4391 Crore allocated for the procurement of 14,028 e-buses by state transport Undertakings / public transport agencies.

      ii.            The demand aggregation for these buses will be managed by CESL [Convergence Energy Services Limited] in 9 major cities with more than 40 lakh population namely Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Ahmadabad Surat, Bangalore, Pune & Hyderabad.

    iii.            Preference will be given to cities procuring e-buses after scrapping old buses as per Ministry of Road Transport and Highways guidelines.

Charging infrastructure:

• The total outlay for charging infrastructure under the Scheme is Rs. 2000 crore.

 Testing agencies Up-gradation:

        i.            Rs. 780 crore was allocated for this purpose under the aegis of Ministry of Heavy industry [MHI]

      ii.            It aims to upgrade and modernize testing agencies under MHI, to equip with new and emerging technologies.
